Tenggol island normally know by diver only. The island is popular among diver because yearly they sight Manta and Whale Shark around the island. Common sighting month in between July-September. The coral around this island also still healthy. Less damages.
As i remember last year, the whale shark had stop around the island in almost 2 month.
Diving in Tenggol can be a bit challenging. Because of most dive sites is deep (25-40m), strong current and choppy surface. My first visit in 2008, only did 2 dives due to current and choppy surface. Im seasick badly, until i cannot wake up.
Only 3 resort operated in this island. (I know know Tenggol Island Resort, not sure about the rest)
Drive or take a bus to Dungun Trengganu. The jetty located after the Sungai Dungun Bridge(travelling by bus maybe have to find a taxi to get to jetty). Parking is available near the jetty with cost RM5 per night(Dont worry the car will be save there).
No public boat to the island. We must do early arrangement with the resort. boat ride will take around 45minutes to 1 hour plus from the jetty depending on the weather. My recent trip took around 1:30 minutes on coming back to Dungun. Weather not so good. The wave reach about 2-3 meter height.
